2008 Kansas City Chiefs Football Preview:
The Kansas City Chiefs are always one of the toughest and most unpredictable teams in the NFL. Following the tragic loss of the team’s longtime owner Lamar Hunt, the team has found itself in some turmoil, sending quarterback Trent Green to Miami and dealing with various injuries to starting players. The Kansas City Chiefs, however, appear to be improving every year. With one Super Bowl and 3 AFL Championships to the team’s credit, the Kansas City Chiefs will fight to return to their past glory days. Arrowhead Stadium has long been one of the premier venues to see old school NFL football, and this season is no different.
With some fresh new faces (and fresh new talent), this Kansas City Chiefs team is going to see some significant improvement over the next few years. True, they will need some time to build trust and experience among new players, but it will certainly pay off in the end. The Chiefs are going to need quarterback Brodie Croyle to really step up and produce this season, if they want to keep the ball moving downfield. Some notable new faces to watch are: cornerback Brandon Flowers from Virginia Tech and third-round running back Jamaal Charles from of Texas. Though this season may not be a playoff season for the Chiefs, it will be exciting nonetheless to watch new players growing with a truly tremendous team.

The Kansas City Chiefs play in the West Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football league (NFL). The team was founded in 1960 as part of the American Football League (AFL) in which they would win 3 championships. After the two leagues merged, the Kansas City Chiefs would win a Super Bowl in 1969 but then struggle and perform poorly throughout most of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Marty Schottenheimer took the helm as coach in 1989 and would lead the Chiefs to 7 playoff appearances in 8 years. Kansas City has again struggled since Dick Vermeil took over the team, although their home record is still among the best in the league and the team has proven it must be taken seriously. Look for Kansas City Chiefs to make a run at the playoffs this season.
The Kansas City Chiefs have played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium since 1972. The stadium holds a capacity crowd of nearly 80,000 and has sold out every game for an incredible 17 seasons. The crowd is boisterous and rabid about their team. Attend a game and you’ll feel what resembles a college football atmosphere with tailgating and unbridled enthusiasm.
