2008 Texas A&M Football Preview:
Head Coach: Mike Sherman
The Texas A&M Aggies football program finds itself at a crossroads this season. After the resignation of head coach Dennis Franchione and the hiring of Houston Texans offensive coordinator Mike Sherman, the Aggies will look to put themselves back on the map in the Big 12 and once again compete for national glory. Kyle Field is considered one of the most intimidating venues in America and this season will be no exception as the student body acts as the team’s 12th Man and tries to push A&M back to their role as a football powerhouse.
The Texas A&M Aggies are looking to new head coach, Mike Sherman, to turn the team around from last season. After plenty of controversy surrounding the 2007 team's former head coach, Dennis Franchione, the team is needs to unify under the control of Sherman, former head coach for the Green bay Packers. The Aggies, a traditionally powerful team in the Big 12, is looking to make up some ground in the conference from as far back as 2003, when Franchione signed with A&M and the team started losing more games.
This season the Aggies will really have to step up their passing game if they want to get the edge on offense. The team is notoriously dangerous on the ground, and their running game should not be easy to stop. With several new recruits, the team will be young and fresh, and expect to find some new talent filling the roster. Make sure to catch the Aggies when they play Texas on November 27 - the rivalry and game experience is unlike any other.
