It's a little difficult to put a finger on where the Auburn Tigers fit in the 2008 season ranks. In 2007, the Tigers racked up nine wins, including a win in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl vs. Clemson. This year, the Tigers lose their starting quarterback, but this could be an advantage for the team. New recruits Blake Field and Kodi Burns are packed with talent, but will need some time to dry out those wet spots behind their ears. With a game or two, these Tigers may have something going with one of these two QB's. What hurts the Tigers more than anything is the lack of playmakers in the wide receiver department. The Tiger team will have to adjust for some new players to get experience, and this will say a lot about the outcome of the Tigers' season early on.

The Tigers are notorious for their presence on defense. This year seems to be no different, as there are plenty of returning players who saw a good deal of playtime in 2007. The Tiger defense might have to workl overtime to make up for less experience on the offensive side of the ball - but the Tigers, if true to form, should have no problems. Look out for this team to take hold of the SEC West Division. The Auburn and LSU will play each other early this season, and the SEC West will be decided by the better of the two. The Auburn Tigers first fielded a football team in 1892.  The Tigers reached their first bowl game in 1936, playing the Bacardi Bowl in Havana, Cuba.  Auburn has had stellar coaching over the years from the likes of Hall of Famers John Heisman, Mike Donahue, and Pat Dye.  The Auburn Tigers are considered to be the 14th best program in college football history by the College Football Research Center.  Auburn football has been a springboard for great running backs to go on to great success in the NFL.  Bo Jackson, Kenny Irons, and Cadillac Williams are a few great backs from Auburn.  Georgia and Alabama are the Tigers two main rivals.  In one of Auburn’s most memorable games against the Crimson Tide in 1972, Auburn blocked two punts in the fourth quarter, returning both for touchdowns and winning the game 17-16.  LSU Tigers has also become a great rival and the annual game often receives its own nickname - “The Earthquake Game”, “The Whistle Game”, “the Doink game”, etc.
