University of Houston head coach Tom Penders hopes to build on the blazing start the team had to the 2007-2008 season and their trip to the Conference USA Tournament final the year before. Hopes on campus are high this season as the Cougars strive to make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1992. The Cougars play their home games at Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston, Texas. The arena was opened in 1969 and holds 8,500 fans for Houston basketball games. A 1998 upgrade to the arena provided fans with luxury suites and the players with upgraded locker rooms.
