PHILADELPHIA 76ERS EXPERIENCE:
The Philadelphia 76ers were founded in 1939 as the Syracuse Nationals.  The team then moved to Philadelphia in 1963, adopting the name 76ers as a celebration of America’s Declaration of Independence in 1776.  The team started its early success by winning an NBA title in 1967 under the leadership of Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, and Hal Greer.  The Sixers made it to four more NBA Finals with Julius “Dr.J” Irving, winning one championship.  The later 1980’s and 90’s saw more playoff success for Philadelphia with the acquisition on Charles Barkley, and then Alan Iverson led the team to its most recent success at the turn of the century.

The Sixers have consistently been a mjor presence in the NBA, and has showcased some of the brightest and best stars in the nation.  Their 12-1 playoff record is the second best in history, and their success in the 1982-83 basketball season prompted a Philly-based musical group to recount their glory in a R&B song.  It is always fun to watch this Sixers rebuild and reclaim, as they have done time and time again.
