Kyle Field is an outdoor football stadium located on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, Texas. The stadium is also known as “the Home of 12th Man” in reference to A&M’s student section support providing the equivalent of an extra player to the Aggie squad. Kyle Field has been home to the Aggies football team since 1904, although it wasn’t a complete stadium until 1927. It is currently the largest football stadium in Texas until the University of Texas’ DKR Memorial Stadium upgrade is completed in 2008. Visiting teams have found Kyle Field to be one of the most intimidating stadiums to visit in the country. Kyle Field has also hosted memorable games such as A&M’s emotional comeback against Texas one week after the Aggie Bonfire tragedy, and the game played after the attacks of 9/11/01 when on short notice the student body wore shirts that striped the three decks red, white, and blue.
Plans are in the works for a future expansion that would give Kyle Field a capacity of more than 110,000, though no date for completion has been set.
