The New York Jets put together a disappointing season in 2007.  There’s no other way to describe it, but there are bright spots for next year.  With Chad Pennington’s shoulder surgery making his arm nearly ineffective, the Jets had to rely on undrafted backup Kellen Clemens to lead the team.  Clemens has had his work cut out for him and has had to compete in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, the AFC East, which includes the Patriots and Colts – probably the two best teams in the AFC.  This coming season will be an exciting year for Jets fans to see what the future of their team holds after the draft and off-season trades try to shore up the team’s weaknesses.  Will Clemens develop into a solid passer or will the Jets find another QB to lead the team?  Jets fans will voice their notoriously loud opinions on the matter at Giants Stadium come this next season.

The New York Jets play football in the East Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL).  The Jets franchise was founded in 1960 as the New York Titans.  The team was renamed after the Jet planes landing at LaGuardia Airport next to the Jets home field at Shea Stadium.  Joe Namath would help lead the Jets to its only Super Bowl (retroactively called Super Bowl III).  The Jets have been regular visitors to the postseason, but never managed much success there.  The 2006 season saw a surprise finish with a 10-6 record, but 2007 was a disappointment.  We’ll see what the Jets can do this coming year.
