The later 1980’s and 90’s saw more playoff success for Philadelphia with the acquisition on Charles Barkley, and then Alan Iverson led the team to its most recent success at the turn of the century. The Sixers play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team has played in the Wachovia Center since 1996. The arena has a capacity of nearly 21,000. Coined “the Big House” by Philadelphia sports fans, the Wachovia Center can be one of the loudest, most exciting venues to see a basketball game.
