Thompson-Boling Arena is an indoor multi-purpose athletic arena on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.  The arena is primarily home to the University of Tennessee Volunteers and Lady Volunteers basketball programs.  Opened in 1987, the arena is named for university benefactor B. Ray Thompson and former UT president Edward J. Boling.  The playing surface itself is known as “the Summit” after legendary lady Vols coach Pat Summit.  Thompson-Boling Arena is the largest arena ever built in the US for basketball.  Visitors to the arena will be awe-struck by its octagonal shape and sheer size.

While the arena is mainly the home of the Tennessee basketball programs, Thompson-Boling has also concerts and other events.  Some of the performers to appear at the arena include Kanye West, Keith urban, Garth Brooks, Hannah Montana, Shania Twain, Britney Spears, and Cher.  The Thompson-Boling Arena has also hosted various NCAA Tournament games.  New improvements to Thompson-Boling include added seats, a new scoreboard, renovated concourses, and luxury seating.

A visit to the 24,535-seat arena will make you understand just how important basketball is to the Tennessee Volunteers.  You’ll see the checkerboard end lines of the court, which mirror the painted end zones of UT’s Neyland Stadium.  The enormous crowd is something to experience by itself, whether for a concert or a game.  Buy Thompson-Boling Arena tickets today and never miss an event at Thompson-Boling Arena!
