2009 US Open Tennis Event Guide:

Welcome to the 2009 US Open tennis tournament! This year's tennis event will be held at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The primary court for this event will be Arthur Ashe stadium, the world's largest outdoor tennis venue. Several thousand tennis fans are expected to congregate in Flushing Meadows for over two full weeks of professional tennis action. Provided in this section is a guide that will direct you to and from places of interest, help with any security and travel related questions, and inform you about Arthur Ashe Kid's Day. Our goal is to make your experience as delightful as possible at the final tennis Grand Slam event of the year!

Travel Information/Security

Mass Transit:
The US Open committee strongly recommends that the public use the mass transit systems in order to avoid potential travel delays. Due to anticipated traffic, please try to use the subway or railroad to curtail any travel time that could be lost on route to Arthur Ashe Stadium. Subway schedules and routes for the US Open can be found here: MTA's US Open Tennis Championship Directions. The traffic conditions will reach peak congestion during conflicts with Mets home games. The dates and times for those games are listed below:

Driving:
If you decide to drive to the US Open, single-event limited parking will be available in Lots 1-7 for a $15 fee. Remember, parking will be limited, so either grab a parking pass from TicketCity, or get there early. A parking and transportation map is available from the USTA here: Parking Map (PDF)

Take the worry out of driving with US Open Tennis parking passes. TicketCity has a limited supply of parking passes for all US Open Sessions. Parking Passes from TicketCity guarantee a spot and save the hassle of mass transit and the disappointment of a full lot.

Security:
The US Open committee recommends that all attendants and fans arrive early to the event to avoid possible traffic and procedural delays. All fans will have to pass a screening before they are allowed entry to USTA National Tennis Center. Only one bag per person is allowed past the entry gates, and bags must not be larger than 12”W x 12”H x 16”L. For a nominal charge, there will be bag storage available outside the grounds. There will be speed lines for fans without bags for expedited entry to the US Open grounds. The following items are not allowed on the premises:

  • sealed packages of any kind
  • briefcases
  • ALL knapsacks and ALL backpacks
  • hard coolers or similar containers
  • glass bottles and cans
  • aerosol cans and noisemaking devices
  • alcoholic beverages
  • commercial video cameras or recording devices
  • computers or laptops
  • food (except in limited quantities, or for medical, dietary or infant purposes)
  • weapons (regardless of permit)
  • pets (unless a service animal)
  • flags, banners or signs
  • laser pointers or any laser devices
  • tennis racquets
  • bicycles, scooters, in-line skates, roller skates, skateboards
  • any other items deemed unlawful or dangerous by the USTA and/or US Open personnel, in its sole discretion

Dining:

Aces
An excellent seafood restaurant that specializes in fine dining, this is place to visit if you are looking for tasty cuisine day or evening. With a casual yet elegant wine bar, this makes the perfect place for stadium dining. Reservations are recommended. TicketCity has a limited number of Aces Grill admission passes available for most sessions.

Champions Bar and Grill
A modern yet classy spot, this is the perfect spot to grab a juicy steak or fresh salad. There are plenty of televisions around the restaurant to keep you tuned-in to the game. Reservations are recommended.

US Open Club
Located on the ground floor of Arthur Ashe Stadium, this club is open to all Subscription Series ticket holders during the tournament for a nominal entrance fee, and is included for Silver Loge Box seat holders. This spot is famous for its eclectic, tasty American cuisine. TicketCity has a limited number of US Open Club admission passes available for most sessions.

Patio Café
An outdoor café available to all US Open ticket holders, this refreshing spot offers delectable seasonal sandwiches and salads.

Mojito Restaurant and Bar
Offers Latin specialties and cool cocktails in the luscious setting of 1950's Havana. Open to all US Open ticket holders.

Food Village
Offers a variety of cuisines at a plethora of restaurants. Food Village is available to all US Open ticket holders.

Entertainment:

Arthur Ashe Kid's Day

For the little tennis star in your family, this event is going to be a blast. Arthur Ashe Kid's Day will provide the kiddos with a variety of activities to keep them entertained throughout the day. There will be several musical performances, exhibits, workshops and plenty of entertainment for the entire family.
