ROUND ROCK EXPRESS
The Round Rock Express, AAA affiliate of the Texas Rangers have brought a baseball presence to central Texas that is unparalleled in the state. Playing in the Pacific Coast League since 2005 (previous a part of the Texas League), the Express have won three league titles and seven division titles including a franchise-best 87 wins in 2011.
Led by owner Reid Ryan, CEO and President of Ryan-Sanders Baseball Inc. which also owns the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Express also feature a large presence of his father Nolan Ryan. Ryan is the principle owner and president of the Texas Rangers.
Round Rock has enjoyed great pitchers such as Roger Clemens Andy Pettitte and Roy Oswalt on the mound during rehab appearances, as has also propelled the careers of current players like Hunter Pence, Wandy Rodriguez and Brad Lidge.
The Express play at the Dell Diamond, built in 2000, which boasts a seating capacity of 8,722 and has room for over 3,000 more on the grass berms beyond the outfield fence. The diamond set new Double-A records for attendance in each of its first five seasons, and enjoyed the best five year stretch in Double-A history.
