INFO ON COWBOYS STADIUM:
Where: Arlington, Texas
Opened: June 2009
Capacity: 80,000 for normal games, expandable to 100,000
Suites: 200 luxury suites are located throughout the venue.

2009 is the year the Dallas Cowboys moved to their new, retractable roof stadium. The stadium was built by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in the City of Arlington, Texas at an estimated cost of 1.3 billion dollars. The naming rights for the new stadium have not yet been sold, so the popular names for it are the New Dallas Cowboys Stadium or New Texas Stadium.

The amenities in the new Cowboys Stadium are some of the finest in the world. The stadium will sell 80,000 seats for Cowboys home games, but can expand that capacity to 100,000 in order to host the Superbowl. The stadium will have a retractable roof and the largest HDTV screen in the world. There are 15,000 Club Level seats in the stadium, some of which the Cowboys players will walk through on their way to the field. There are 200 luxury suites, which be located in eight different areas throughout the stadium. The Cowboys are also installing a large Hall of Fame and pro shop to buy Cowboys merchandise.

The new stadium is already lined up to host an impressive array of championships, including future Super Bowls and Final Fours, as well as playing host to a variety of classic college rivalry games.

George Strait and Reba McEntire played the first event at Cowboys Stadium in June of 2009. The stadium's first sporting event was a soccer match as part of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July of 2009. The stadium's home team played their first game in August of 2009, against the Tennessee Titans, in which the prominent HDTV screens came into play as one was struck by a kick, touching off criticism of Cowboys Stadium's design due to the placement of the screens.
