Stegeman Coliseum is an indoor multi-purpose athletic arena on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.  With a seating capacity of more than 10,500, it is primarily home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs men’s and women’s basketball programs.  Opened in 1964, Stegeman Coliseum is named for Herman Stegeman, Georgia’s legendary basketball coach and one of the founders of the SEC conference basketball tournament.  Attend an event at Stegeman and you’ll be struck by the unique U-shape of the building and the sweeping arched roof.

In addition to the basketball teams, Stegeman Coliseum is also home to the Bulldog’s gymnastics squad.  For the 1996 Summer Olympics, the coliseum also hosted volleyball matches as well as rhythmic gymnastics competitions.  It has hosted NCAA gymnastics championships and NCAA basketball tournament games.  While some say the building needs to be replaced, the Georgia athletics department sees no need to replace this historic and beautifully designed building.  It has given the Bulldogs men’s basketball team a fantastic home court advantage over the years.

Whether you’re watching men’s or women’s basketball at Stegeman Coliseum or a gymnastics competition, you’ll appreciate the arena’s dramatic architecture and unique design qualities.  The Stegeman Coliseum has been recently upgraded with state of the art sound and video systems and a new playing surface.  The intensity of the crowd and the volume of their cheers will leave a lasting impression.  Buy Stegeman Coliseum tickets today and never miss an event at Stegeman Coliseum!
