As the home of Chrysler, BorgWarner, Guardian Industries and many other companies, Auburn Hills has grown into a thriving community.
Despite its small town appeal, Auburn Hills has become a major city outside of Detroit and has been home to The Palace of Auburn Hills for more than two decades. This massive arena and entertainment complex is home to the Detroit Pistons of the NBA and the Detroit Shock (now Tulsa Shock) of the WNBA, and both of these teams won championships after moving into the new venue. The arena boasts the largest capacity in the NBA at more than 20,000 and set many attendance records throughout the 2000s.
Over the years, the Palace has been home to a variety of sports from minor and professional leagues, such as the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League and the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League.
While the Pistons are the only team that currently uses the facility, The Palace at Auburn Hills is also known as the Detroit area's premier concert and entertainment facility. The facility is one of the major stops on the arena circuit throughout the United States, and many of today's hottest bands and pop acts have played on the big stage.
When visitors aren't enjoying a dazzling event at The Palace, Auburn Hills is home to multiple colleges and a large population of scholars. The downtown area is filled with nightlife and world-class restaurants, and there always seems to be an event on the calendar. Visitors should be sure to check out the annual Auburn Hills Summerfest with musical performances, outdoor cookouts and plenty of activities for the little ones.
Auburn Hills, Michigan, has grown by leaps and bounds over the past several decades to become one of the best sporting and entertainment hot spots in the entire state.
