The Backyard is an outdoor concert venue, so it is only open for 9 months during the year. It is closed for shows during November, December and January. It's the natural backdrop of The Backyard that make it a truly unique venue. The outskirts of venue are lined with trees, and during a show you can look up and see the stars. It's that au natural feeling that only The Backyard can provide, that makes it one of the best places in Texas to see a concert or show.
The Backyard is medium sized venue that can accommodate touring shows for either reserved seating or general admission seating. For reserved seating shows, there are 30+ rows of chairs setup on the ground right in-front of the stage, and then chairs placed on wood decks behind those. The view from anywhere in venue is truly remarkable, and you never feel like you are too far from the action. In-fact it is that feeling of intimacy, coupled with the outdoor setting, that truly make The Backyard a great experience.
Over the years The Backyard has hosted many, many great concerts and shows. Just a few of the big names who have graced the stage at The Backyard are: Norah Jones, Smashing Pumpkins, Willie Nelson, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Dave Matthews Band, Los Lonely Boys and Sheryl Crow. So buy The Backyard Tickets for a concert and experience this truly unique venue for yourself!

There's No Place Like Home I have been to many concerts in Austin. I prefer outside venues. I saw my very first concert at 16 (Ani DiFranco) at the original Backyard, and I was heart broken when I found out they were renovating it. It was out of commission for a few years. I was first in line to check it out when it re-opened for Willie Nelson's July 4th Picnic. I was a bit skeptical as to whether or not it would live up to the original feel. Y'know, things like - Are the trees in the right spot? Is the grass nice to sit on? Does it feel like I'm in Austin's Backyard watching an amazing band? To all I answered YES! So, when looking for a great outdoor venue, look no farther than Austin's own new-and-improved Backyard! June 24, 2011
One of my favorite venues! I absolutely love the Backyard! It is one of my all-time favorite venues. It is laid out very well, with lots of drink and food vendors set up. Also, the gentle slope of the grounds provide a great view, even for those further back in the crowd. It has a feel similar to a music fest. Love it! June 24, 2011
