Georgia Dome Information:

The Georgia Dome is home of the Atlanta Falcons NFL team. as well as the NCAA Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl game. The Dome, which was completed in 1992, cost $214 million dollars and is owned and operated by the State of Georgia. The Georgia Dome is one of the largest state-funded construction projects in state history. The stadium has a seating capacity of 71,228 for football matches, and 75,000 for concerts.

The Georgia Dome originally had AstroTurf artificial field surface installed for its football events. In 2003, Arthur Blank funded a state-of-the-art FieldTurf surface upgrade. In 2006, the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority approved $30 million for stadium renovations. The project was divided into two stages: the first stage updated the premium seating areas, adding eight "super suites;" and the second stage involved painting the stadium to resemble the Atlanta Falcons' team colors.

The Georgia Dome has hosted an array of prestigious events, including Super Bowl XXVIII and Super Bowl XXXIV. The Dome has also hosted the NCAA Final Four Men's Basketball tournament in 2002 and 2007, WCW Monday Nitro and WWE Raw wresting, and the Sugar Bowl (when the Superdome in New Orleans was used for Katrina).

There have been several weather issues that have affected the Georgia Dome. In 1995, three years after its completion, a severe rain storm caused the roof to tear and another section to fall inside the stadium. No one was hurt during the incident, which took place when all the fans had left. On March 14, 2008, a tornado ripped two holes in the roof of the structure during the 2008 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Dome has since been repaired so that these incidents should never recur.
