Qualcomm Stadium, which is also known as "The Q" and "The Murph," hosts the Holiday Bowl. It serves as the home of the San Diego Chargers and of the San Diego State University Aztecs. It's located at 9449 Friars Road, San Diego, CA 92108.
The stadium opened in 1967 and since that time has gone through numerous renovations, upgrades and expansions. The stadium was the idea and passion of local San Diego sportswriter Jack Murphy. Murphy started to rally support for the stadium in the early sixties and in November 1965 a bond of $27 million was passed which opened the door for the construction of the stadium. It was originally named San Diego Stadium but in 1980 when Murphy passed on it was renamed San Diego-Jack Murphy Stadium. In 1997, the venue was renamed Qualcomm Stadium after the Qualcomm Corporation anted up $18 million for naming rights.
The stadium seats 66,000 for football and includes a range of seats including a wealth of club seats and luxury suites. There are Pac-12 and Big 12 sides of the field. Gates F through M, the south side of the field, enter onto the Big 12 area of Qualcomm and Gates A through E and P and N, on the north side, can be used to access the Pac-12 area.
Luxury Suites and Club Seats:
There are 113 luxury suites and over 7,000 club seats. There are various lounges associated with the club seating areas. The luxury suites have been newly refurbished and included reserved parking, a panoramic view, private rest rooms and ultra comfortable seats.
Other suite amenities include wall-to-wall carpeting, individual suite climate control, closed circuit TV, in-house telephone and stereo sound system. There is a bar area with stools, refrigerator, wet bar, sink and ice maker. A full catering menu is available.

The parking area located at the stadium fills up quickly and spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking fees are set by the city of San Diego, which controls the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot. No is no overnight parking for RVs. VIP parking lots are designated as Lot C/1 and Lot D/1. They are located just inside the main entrance to Mission Village Drive. This is a secure and private area, which includes a lane designated for facilitating entrance into and exit from the parking VIP area.
Parking for those with disabilities is available. Handicapped parking stalls are those located closest to the stadium in the inner ring of the stadium parking lot. Those who require special parking are asked to arrive two hours prior to the game. Because traffic can become congested and parking is limited, it's recommended that patrons car pool, use bus transportation or travel via the San Diego trolley. There is no bike parking at Qualcomm Stadium.
Fans may tailgate only in the parking space that is designated for their vehicle.
Services for the disabled:
Patrons can find wheelchairs and attendants at the First Aid office on the Plaza Level near Gate F. Shuttle service may be accessed in the parking area for those who require assistance.
Re-entry to the stadium is not permitted if you leave the premises. Re-entry is prohibited since it poses a security risk.
Any type of musical instrument or noise making device is not allowed into Qualcomm Stadium. Beach balls, signs or banners in bad taste, flags on poles, umbrellas, bottles, cans, coolers, backpacks and bags larger than 12"x12"x12" are prohibited from entering the stadium. Other articles that are not allowed include guns, weapons, sticks, inflatable objects, laser pointers, flammable objects, stun guns, fireworks, lawn furniture, spray bottles, frisbees, boomerangs, knives, mace and pepper spray, chains, balloons, sports balls, water guns, bicycles and skateboards, illegal drugs, outside alcoholic beverages, and any items deemed inappropriate by management are prohibited from entering the stadium. Video taping of the Holiday Bowl is prohibited.
Flash cameras are permitted for private use and may be utilized as long as they don't interfere with fan enjoyment of the game.
Flags, Banners and Homemade Signs:
Flags and banners are permitted as long as they are not on a pole. Signs related to the game, in good taste, are allowed. None of these items may obstruct the view of fans or interfere with stadium structures and signs.
There are numerous ATMs at Qualcomm Stadium. ATMs may be found on the Field Level near Section 19; at the Plaza Level near Gate F; on the Club Level near Sections 15 and 27and at the View Level near Section 20.
Diaper Changing Areas:
You'll find diaper changing facilities in most men's and women's restrooms.
Alcohol may be bought by patrons with proper ID who are 21 years of age or older. There is a two-drink limit per person per order limit. Alcohol may be bought once the stadium is open through to the end of the third quarter.
Outside Food and Drink:
Food sealed in a small plastic bag and factory-sealed plastic water bottles that are ½ liter, 17 oz. or less may be brought into the stadium. There is a limit of two per person.
There are two restaurants in the stadium. Murphy's Bar and Restaurant is open to the public and is located on the Plaza Level near Gate F. The Endzone Club is also open to the public and is located on the Loge Level near Section 21.
Qualcomm Stadium is a 100% smoke free venue. Smoking in the stadium is a violation of The City of San Diego's Municipal Code. Violators may be cited and/or ejected from the stadium. There are two smoking areas. Both are at the Plaza Level outside Gates O1 and O2.
Trained guide dogs and other such animals that are used to aid a disabled person may be brought into the stadium. Animals may relieve themselves at planters near Gates M or N.
Elevators and Escalators:
Elevators may be found at Gates B, D, F and H. Escalators are at Gates B, D, G and J.
First Aid Station:
You'll find a First Aid Station on the Plaza Level between Gates F & G. Another First Aid Station is located on the Plaza Level at Gate N. You'll also find emergency response teams on duty throughout the stadium.
Lost and Found:
The Lost and Found is located at the Guest Services office, which is on the Plaza Level between Gates F and G. Non-game day Lost and Found is in the Stadium Security office at Gate A.
