Wrigley Field is one of the legendary stadiums in all of sports. Home of the Chicago Cubs since 1914, it is currently owned by the Tribune Company. Wrigley is often affectionately referred to as "
The Friendly Confines". And any sports fan who has been to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field will tell you it is something you have to experience.
Wrigley Field is situated in the middle of a downtown Chicago neighorhood named Wrigleyville. Parking for Cubbies games can be difficult because there is official parking lot next to the stadium, so you have to find something in the neighborhood. Best advice is to either park and walk from a few blocks down. Or take the L, Chicago's rail system, to the game.
Walking inside Wrigley Field is like a trip back in time. The stadium has been renovated numerous times over the last century, but it still has the feel of the old ballpark (like
Fenway in Boston). The walkways are small, the bathrooms are old, the seats are tiny - but none of that is a negative, because it just adds to the atmosphere. And the field itself is just beautiful to see; the red brick that lines the field and the famous ivy on the outfield wall. The best part is that the field is so close to the seats, you really feel like you are part of the action.
Wrigley Field is so great to see, that it feels like a bonus that you get to watch a Cubs game. So when you visit Wrigley: grab an Old Style beer, a Chicago style hot dog and head to your seat in one of the greatest stadiums in America.
