2011-2012 Wake Forest Demon Deacons College Basketball Preview:

Wake Forest is always a contender for stepping into the postseason spotlight. With a somewhat disappointing 2010-2011 season far behind them the squad is poised for another NCAA tournament appearance to add to its repertoire. Demon Deacon basketball is steeped in elite basketball tradition and fans will be more than pleased with the talent that was picked up by the organization in the offseason.

One of these new prospects is six foot guard Anthony Fields. In his hometown of Detroit, Fields was an explosively quick and well-conditioned player who was able to push the ball up the court and deconstruct other teams with a constantly pressuring defensive ability.

Another student-athlete looking to establish himself against other team's offenses is Daniel Green, a 6' 11" forward who uses his lean body to get under the basket and bring down rebounds. Although Green is tall and lanky he is also extremely athletic and is known for being able to splash jump shots down from outside the paint. Wake Forest looks to utilize the skills of players new and old for a dominant season in the ACC this year.

Winston Salem, North Carolina
Stadium: Lawrence Joel Coliseum

Wake Forest annually produces a solid postseason basketball program, or at least it did for 16 seasons up until the 2006 NIT tournament. The men's basketball team is highly comepetitive, and the school has qualified for the NCAA Tournament 20 times since the founding of the program. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons - as the mascot name so accurately describes - are always a fantastic and unorthodox team to watch play hoops every season. Some great players to have emerged from the program include "Muggsy" Bogues, Chris Paul, Tim Duncan, and Josh Howard.

The Demon Deacons play their games at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Coliseum has a capacity of 14,665 for home basketball games. Demon Deacon basketball is a always exciting to watch at the The Joel, so make sure to get your Wake Forest tickets while the season is hot!
