The Arizona Wildcats first took the court in the 1904-05 season but did not reach their first NCAA Tournament until 1951. It would then take another 20+ years for the Wildcats to reach a second appearance but after their fourth NCAA Tournament berth Arizona would find the talent to reach the tournament for the next 25 years. Though the 1999 teams NCAA Tournament run would later be vacated by the NCAA the Wildcats found their spot among the NCAA's best basketball teams from 1985 to 2009. During this span the Arizona Wildcats would bring home their first NCAA championship as a #4 seed in the Southeast region by beating out the #1 Seed Kentucky in the 1997 championship game.
In 2001 Arizona would head into the NCAA Tournament with the #2 seed in the Midwest region and have their second shot at a national title. After getting through Ole Miss and Illinois in the regional's the Wildcats made it to their fourth Final Four appearance. They 2001 team would put up enough talent to get past the Spartans in the Final Four but were stopped short of their second national title in the championship game against the Duke Blue Devils. Arizona continues to produce top college basketball talent and is always a threat in the NCAA Tournament no matter what seed they are given. Their most recent appearance put them up against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Sweet 16 at the Staples Center in LA.
