Arkansas Razorbacks Rivals

Arkansas vs. Kentucky

Arkansas-Kentucky has been one of the most exciting basketball rivalries over the last 2 decades and among the biggest rivalries in the South. The rivalry dates back to 1945 and has been played over 35 times since. This rivalry really picked up steam in the 1990’s when the Razobacks joined the SEC, and both schools were vying for national championships. This same intensity has lived in the rivalry and game days are known for being loud and contentious. This is one of the can’t-miss matchups in the SEC every season.

Arkansas vs. Missouri

When the Tigers joined the SEC in 2012, this matchup of bordering States was taken to whole new level. Since then Missouri and Arkansas have been so evenly matched that game days have quickly grown contentious and anxious. Fayetteville and Columbia are only separated by a few miles, and alumni from both schools travel en mass to away games, adding a split crowd to two notoriously loud arenas. Look for this rivalry to only continue to grow as the history between them lengthens and as both contend for an SEC Championship.

What is the best game day tradition at a Razorbacks home game?

The calling of the Hogs at Bud Walton Arena is one of the most energetic traditions in all of college sports. This tradition has a very specific regiment that is practiced by young and new Hogs fans everywhere. With both hands raised high in the air, and fingers waving as the noise level grows, fans who are all on their feet start with “Wooooooo,” and then both arms pump down as the chant changes to “Pig” and then the arms go back in the air for “Sooie.” This goes on for three stanzas before ending the third time with “Razorbacks.” The energy from this chant has been known to quiet opposing team’s fans at tournaments, but taking part in the tradition at Bud Walton Arena is an unforgettable experience.

Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball 5 5 1 1
Sorry Pigs! Great atmosphere for these SWC rivals, love to see big rivals on the schedule like this. UT dominated, had some Hogs fans with me and by the end of the game they were declaring UT the National Champions, long road still to go but with exciting games like this I like our chances.
