Kansas Jayhawks 2011-12 College Basketball Preview
There are few arenas in any sport as hallowed as Kansas’ Allen Fieldhouse, home of the Jayhawks’ continually amazing basketball teams. This year, however, will be coach Bill Self’s toughest yet. Last year’s regular season Big 12 Champions have lost a lot of talent in the bodies of two players—the Morris twins, Marcus and Markieff—and three of their incoming freshman have been declared ineligible.

Now it’s time for junior forward/center Thomas Robinson to lead the charge after playing behind Cole Aldrich and the Morris twins since his arrival in Lawrence. Robinson was a sure lottery pick, but he was one of a handful of players (like Baylor’s Perry Jones) who decided to stick around. The Jayhawks are also buoyed by former Loyola Marymount standout Kevin Young, who transfers to Self’s club after two years in Los Angeles.

Self will also need to get veteran play and leadership from two players who hit their senior years in 2011-12, forward/center Jeff Withney and point guard Tyshawn Taylor. If they finally live up to the promise that led them to the Allen Fieldhouse to begin with, Kansas could be looking at their eighth-straight Big 12 title.
