Oklahoma Sooners 2011-12 Men's College Basketball Preview
The Sooners are looking to rebuild their team after a poor 2010-11 campaign. In comes new man in charge, former UNLV and Atlanta Hawks head coach Lon Kruger to lead one of the youngest teams in the conference last season.
This year, they return four out of the five starters, and the transfer wire was hopping in the offseason. Former Mississippi State Bullodog Romero Osby will finally be able to log minutes in the forward spot and give Oklahoma size they were missing last year. Last year’s leading scorer and rebounder, junior center Andrew Fitzgerald, and will fight alongside junior college transfer and forward/center hybrid Casey Arent.
However, it might be sophomore Cameron Clark who provides the spark that gets the Sooners out of the basement of the Big 12. The 6’7 small forward has a mix of athleticism and scoring prowess to make him a future All Big 12 player. It will be up to Kruger and the youth of the Sooners to mature sooner rather than later to help him meet his potential.

The Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball team is a perennial competitor in the Big 12. The team rose to prominence under head coach Billy Tubbs and college stars Wayman Tisdale and Mookie Blaylock in the 1980's. Though Oklahoma has never captured an NCAA Championship, they have won plenty of Big 12 tournaments and are second in most tournament wins without a championship behind Illinois.
The Sooners play hoops at the Lloyd Noble Center, or the "house that Alvan built." Alvan Adams was a star forward for the Sooners in the 1970's, whose presence was felt in the call for an updated basketball arena to replace the aging OU Field House. OU basketball thrives in this modern facility, and games consistently pack the house, especially when rivals OSU Cowboys are in town. Make sure to come out and support these "Boomer Sooners!"
