Texas Tech has always been an incredible program to watch. The Tech Red Raiders started playing basketball only two years after the school was founded. Texas Tech has a rich history of basketball at the school, and reached the NCAA Tournament twice under longtime head coach Polk Robinson. Texas Tech has reached the NCAA Tournament 8 times, including once in 2007. The Red Raiders have also appeared in the Sweet Sixteen 5 times, their most recent visit was in 2005 under legendary coach Bobby Knight.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders play hoops at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The arena opened in 1999, and is also home to the Lady Raiders basketball team. The arena is also used for concerts and other sports entertainment events, including the WWE's RAW. The WNBA has also played an exhibition game at the arena.
