2011-2012 UConn Huskies College Basketball Preview:
Connecticut Huskies come into the year favored by many to win the Big East. Although the team was only 9-9 in the conference last year, they topped the entire league when it really came down to it, and fans can expect another glorious shot at the tournament's crown.
Sophomore Jeremy Lamb, who was named to the preseason All-Big East First Tea, is one of the reasons why. This kid is exceptional to watch out on the floor. He is a versatile athlete and can play both the forward and guard position with ease. Look for him to establish himself early and put up some big numbers in important games.
Lamb wasn't the only Huskie to receive accolades in the preseason. Alex Oriakhi, from Lowell, Massachusetts, Andre Drummond, a local boy, and Shabazz Napier of Roxbury, MA, were all given nods by the Preseason Coach's Poll. This squad is defensively stronger than last year, which may be difficult to fathom. Several new additions and a strong squad of returning players may see UConn cutting the nets down of the Big East and beyond in 2012.

The Connecticut Huskies are a powerful team, and have produced several NBA players. Most notably, UConn is the first school ever to send 5 players to the NBA in a two-round draft. Memphis Grizzlies star Rudy Gay was one of the Huskies basketball players selected in the NBA draft first round.
Both the Connecticut men's and women's basketball teams play their home games at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut. The arena is the largest on-campus arena in New England.
