2011-2012 Syracuse Orange College Basketball Preview:
It's going to be a big year for the Orange. Head coach Jim Boehiem picked up some serious talent in the off-season and will surely be leading the team down the road to multiple victories come November.
The biggest news for this season is the introduction of local player Dajuan Coleman. The New York native had been considering other colleges but chose to remain close to home. This kid is nasty - at 6' 10" and 280 pounds he's got the bulk and inside presence that the squad needs. Coleman is a scoring machine. In his junior year of high school he averaged 24.5 points and a big 14 rebounds.
Speaking of rebounds, Syracuse will look to dominate the glass with freshman leaping machine Jerami Grant, a small forward who was ranked as the 43rd player in the ESPNU 100. Fans should look for Grant to use his explosiveness and speed to help the team pick up some big wins. The Big East is ultra-competitive this year, but with athletes like these, the Orange seem to have the early advantage.
