2011-2012 Michigan State Spartans College Basketball Preview:
Things are looking up this year for the Michigan State Spartans' basketball team. Although a bum knee has forced senior Delvon Roe to retire early, the returning juniors and seniors will be able to step up and deliver some leadership to the younger members. The Spartans have been to more Final Four showdowns in the last 13 years than any other college basketball club in the country. A big part of this success is due to coach Tom Izzo and his ability to pick winners and teach them fundamentals of the game.
Branden Dawson, a new member of the team, is expected to add depth to the roster. Standing at 6' 6", this prospect is an excellent finisher and will use his speed and explosiveness to help put some points up on the board this season.
On defense the Spartans will look to establish themselves by including center Adreian Payne in their scheme. With a 7' 1" wingspan, this kid is exciting to watch as he provides a good amount of athleticism in his big frame. His reach and ability to jump will surely help the team with its rebounding come November. Fans will be glad once the season starts and all this fresh talent starts putting together their game plan on the court.
