2011-2012 Wisconsin Badgers College Basketball Preview:
Coach Bo Ryan is reported to have opened practice with a focus on fundamentals such as ball fakes, defending the baseline, rebounding and transitioning to a defensive posture. It is this attention to the basics that saw the Badgers put up some big numbers and end last year's season with an impressive 13-5 record in the Big Ten division.
As a member of the Wilkes College Hall of Fame, Ryan is only the 56th coach in college basketball history to amass 600 wins. His discipline and attention to detail have led to his 242-91 record with the University of Wisconsin in 10 years as head coach. With players like 6' 6" Junior Mike Bruesewitz rejoining the team, it's easy to see why Ryan has a long history of winning.
Coach Ryan has added power forward Frank Kaminsky in order to beef the squad up defensively. The 6' 11" native of Lisle, Illinois, averaged 8.7 rebounds and 4.2 blocks in his senior year in high school. Long arms and an uncanny basketball I.Q. will help Kaminsky reject some more shots of those who dare to take him on.
