The Boston College Eagles basketball team is one of the most accomplished programs in the Northeast. The Eagles have been playing basketball since 1904 and have had some of the historic teams in college basketball. The Eagles have made the NCAA Tournament over 17 times and have won over 20 Tournament games. In 1967 BC made it to its first Sweet Sixteen, something it has made a habit of with the Eagles equaling that mark almost 10 times since. In 1967, 1982, and 1994 the Eagles won their Sweet Sixteen game and advanced to the Elite Eight, placing them among the select group of schools to have moved that far in the tournament. Former Eagles basketball players include greats like Gerry Ward, John Austin, Troy Bell, Craig Smith, Jared Dudley, Bill Curley, and John Bagley. The Eagles play in the Atlantic Coast Conference, which is the premier basketball league on the East Coast, and one of the most exciting conferences in the nation. Playing in the ACC allows BC to consistently compete on the national stage against the top talent in the country. In recent years, Boston College has seen some of its best success, with the team making the Big Dance 7 times from 2001-2009. The atmosphere at Conte Forum has responded to the success with game days at the arena being some of the most electric in the ACC. Boston College Eagles Rivals

Boston College vs. Harvard

Separated by only about 12 miles, the trip from Cambridge to Chestnut Hill is easily traveled by fans on game day, creating a split crowd, only adding to the tension between the two schools. The series has been defined by streaks, with both teams having success. The Eagles own and advantage in the overall series, but Harvard has had a resurgence of competitiveness, thrusting this rivalry back into the spotlight. When BC and Harvard tip off against each other, chances are that the whole city of Boston is paying attention.

Boston College vs. Notre Dame

No matter what sport it is, when the Eagles and Fighting Irish compete, it is always a big deal. The basketball rivalry between these teams came to prominence when both schools were members of the Big East Conference. In 2014 the Notre Dame basketball team joined the ACC and a new excitement emerged around the matchup. With tons of history and now conference implications on the line, look for this to be one of the best rivalries in the basketball rich ACC.
