Duke Blue Devils Basketball Season Preview History

2011-2012 Duke Blue Devils College Basketball Preview:

With last season's NCAA Final Four championship under his belt, many may say that the legendary Mike Krzyzewski has nothing else to prove. Coach K has already been enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame, has brought the team to four titles and sports an incredible career coaching record of 760-215 throughout his 29 years at the university. But the leader is still hungry, and this season fans will surely see the Devils succeed on the court once again.

This year, junior Ryan Kelly and senior Miles Plumlee were named co-captains. Coach K has said that these two have worked hard in the offseason and are prepared to lead the team coming into the 2011-2012 season. Both players helped in acquiring the organization's 32-5 record last year and are looking to provide guidance down the stretch.

On the defensive side of the court, Duke will put some faith in a few newcomers that hope to round out the roster. Alex Murphy, a 6' 8" forward, was known to pull down rebounds in double digits during his high school career. With Coach K at the helm, fans can expect to see the team perform well once again.

Duke University 2010 Men’s Basketball Preview:
Cameron Crazies. Just the name invokes the mental image of 9,000 blue-painted Duke students jumping up and down in unison, screaming to throw off an opponent’s shot. They spend months sleeping in a tent city on Duke’s campus to get tickets to see games at Cameron Indoor Stadium, a venue Sports Illustrated ranked as one of the top in the world. You don’t have to do that, though. All you need is TicketCity to experience the joy of watching last year’s NCAA basketball champs try to repeat—which looks like a good bet.

That’s because this Duke team won a title, lost three starters and came back even more loaded than before. Brian Zoubek and Lance Thomas are no longer there to save the team with their rebounding. In their stead, Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski is going to look to his freshman phenom, New Jersey’s Kyrie Irving, and transfer Seth Curry to take the Blue Devils’ shooting outside. Curry led all freshman in scoring his first year at Liberty University, which must terrify the rest of the ACC Conference when imagining the backcourt they have to do deal with when they visit Cameron Indoor Stadium. Along with returning Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith and Mason Plumlee, who could all be round one picks in the NBA draft in 2011, this year is shaping up to be a good one for the Duke Blue Devils & Cameron Crazies.
