Elite 8 Memorable Games

2011 - (1)Kansas vs. (11)VCU

VCU didn’t even think they’d make the tournament in 2011, and with a big win over #1 Kansas, they went to the Final Four for the first time in school history. The Rams went out to a 41-27 lead by halftime behind a 12-for-25 3-point shooting night, while Kansas was abysmal from the arc going only 2-for-21. Kansas also shot only 53% from the free throw line.

2010 – (5) Michigan State vs. (6) Tennessee

In one of the most exciting contests of the year, the Michigan State Spartans made it past Tennessee when Raymar Morgan’s free throw gave them a lead with less than two seconds left in the game. Tennessee had a great night from the field, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Izzo’s squad and their impressive tournament run came to an end.

2008 – (1) Kansas vs. (10) Davidson

This one actually ended with the big team getting past the little guy, but not after some tense moments. Kansas tried to shut down Stephen Curry, and while that’s not possible, keeping him to only 25 points was seen as a job well done. Davidson had a great run in the tournament, but the Kansas defense was stifling and Kansas went on to eventually win a national title.
