2014 Gators Season Preview

The Gators will be looking to avenge their Elite 8 loss to Louisville and they are back for more this season with a #3 seed berth in the South Regional's of the NCAA Tournament. Billy Donovan’s crew have won national titles and have started to garner the same high-profile recruits that the UF football team is used to getting and in turn the O’Connell Center is packed for every game, something Gator fans will have to reproduce in the various NCAA Tournament locations this year.

The Gators play their home games at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center (O’Connell Center), located in Gainesville, Florida on the campus of University of Florida. With a capacity of over 11 thousand screaming fans, the O’Dome is the place to be for all Florida basketball games. The student section is known as the “Rowdy Reptiles” and has made the Florida games one of the tougher environments for visiting teams to play. As in-state rivals, this match-up stretches through all the collegiate sports, but has become an intense rivalry in basketball. The teams face each other one time every season with the games closely contested and heated.

Florida vs. Kentucky

As two of the better SEC teams, this game continues to be one of the better rivalries in college basketball. Florida and Kentucky are consistently battling for the conference supremacy which has only added to bitterness between the two teams.

What time do the gates open prior to a Gators game?

Gates 1, 2 and 4 are open 1-1/2 hours prior to tip-off at O’Connell Center. For students, Gate 3 opens 2 hours prior to tip-off.

Where is the best place to park at O’Connell Center?

General Parking is available at the O’Connell Center garage as well as the north end of Percy Beard Track (off SW 2nd Ave.) on a first-come, first-serve basis. These lots fill up quickly, especially for weeknight games. Please note - access to the O'Connell Center garage must be from SW 2nd Ave. A free shuttle service is also provided from the Commuter Lot on Gale Lemerand Drive across from the UF Physics building. The shuttle begins running 2 hours prior to tipoff and then after the game until all patrons have left the arena.

Does my child need a ticket to attend the game?

All persons (regardless of age) must have a ticket to enter any University of Florida athletic event that requires a ticket for admission.
