2011-2012 Air Force Falcons College Basketball Preview:
The Air Force Falcons men's basketball team finished the 2010-11 season at 10-21, which is obviously not where they wanted to be. However, the school is bringing in a number of talented players this season who are expected to help the team during this reconstruction period and make a splash in the Mountain West Conference.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Falcons are expected to start Colt Barnhill, Justin Hammonds and Scott Stucky. These three players alone may be what the Air Force needs to get back on the map and race toward March Madness. Each of them can shoot from the free throw line, as well as the three-point arch, which will be crucial in big game matchups.
The Falcons' defensive play is also expected to improve in the 2011-12 season. At almost 7 feet, center Taylor Broekhuis will give opposing teams trouble when they attempt to drive to the basket. Mike Fitzgerald is also an aggressive player who will benefit the defense as well as offense. Although the Falcons didn't finish where they wanted to last season, expect them to improve and possibly create an upset situation for playoff-bound teams.
