BYU COUGARS INFORMATION:
Location: Provo, Utah

Conference: Mountain West Conference
Rivals: Utah Utes
The BYU Cougars first began playing intercollegiate basketball in 1903. BYU has established long-standing rivalries with both Utah and Utah State. As of 2007, the Cougars have won 26 conference championships over the years, along with 4 conference tournament titles. BYU has made the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament 3 times and the Sweet Sixteen 3 times. Sean Bradley and Danny Ainge are perhaps the most well known Cougar players. BYU teams are notable for the age of their players, who have usually done Mormon missionary work before playing basketball, as well as the fact that the team will not play on Sundays in accordance with LDS policy. This has in the past made for some interesting scheduling conflicts especially when the team made it deep into the NCAA tourney.
BYU plays their home games at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah. Opened in 1971, the arena seats 22,700 spectators, making it a loud and overwhelming arena for visiting teams to play in. The Marriott Center is one of the largest college basketball venues in the country and visitors to the arena will be floored by the electricity and excitement evident at a Cougars basketball game.
