The NCAA South Regional is two-rounds of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The first session includes two games, and is often referred to as the Sweet Sixteen. The winners of the first two games face off in the Regional Finals, also known as the Elite Eight (or Great Eight). The winner of the NCAA South Regional Final advances to participate in the NCAA Final Four. So winning the NCAA South Regional Tournament is instrumental in winning an National Championship.
Since 2004 the regions within the NCAA Tournament have been associated with a city name, rather than a geographic location. This change was made to cut down on confusion from fans who saw their teams listed in the "South Regional", when the team was playing in a West Coast city. By instead attaching the name of the city hosting the regional, fans could relate to the progression their team would take through the NCAA Tourney. Although we still refer to the regions by the geographic location, hence the NCAA South Regional Tickets page.
