North Carolina Tarheels Basketball Season Preview History
2013-2014 North Carolina Tarheels College Basketball Preview:
The Tar Heels are looking to get past last year's issues on the court, and head coach Roy Williams did a great job bringing in some help in the form of Isiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks -- both McDonald's All Americans. They'll assist P.J. Hairston and James Michael McAdoo as they try to bring the ACC Championship back to Chapel Hill.
It won't be easy for the Tar Heels, as they've given themselves one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. UNC will face defending-national champion Louisville, Michigan State and Kentucky before ACC play tips off. The conference got tougher over the summer as well, adding the likes of Syracuse and Pitt to an already tough lineup.
2011-2012 North Carolina Tarheels College Basketball Preview:
Tar Heels basketball is steeped in tradition. As the alma mater of Michael Jordan, this storied basketball program is looking to build off another successful season. Last year the team was 14-2 in the ACC and coasted to the conference's regular season championship. They also advanced to the elite eight of the NCAA tournament.
Returning to the squad will be sophomore Reggie Bullock, a guard who racked up six points per game last year. Expectations are high for this kid, who has said he feels he only played up to 70 percent of his potential last year. Bullock's teammates believe he is the next big thing and have full confidence that he can improve upon his already amazing average of 61 percent from three point land.
Carolina fans will be glad to know that John Henson is back and ready to dominate the glass. The 6' 11" junior put a little weight on in the off season and will likely become an inside presence by bringing down more rebounds. He also worked on his manual dexterity and can now use either hand with efficiency. He hopes to help the Tar Heels with another successful run at the tournament when the season begins.
University of North Carolina 2010 Men’s Basketball Preview:
Carolina Blue-it sounds so calm and serene. But when you see it used in its natural environment—in the Dean Smith Center on the jerseys of the UNC Tar Heels men’s basketball team and their 21,000 disciples—you understand it’s not the case. That’s because for the fans in the Dean Dome, Carolina Blue isn’t merely a color but an outlook… and a color to paint the baby’s room or the color scheme for a wedding. To get caught in that sea of Carolina Blue at a Tar Heel game is to be a part of something special, something TicketCity can help you experience.
The Heels are looking to harness that energy from the crowd after an off year where they went 20-17, and received an NIT bid instead of a more prestigious NCAA tournament invitation. It was the worst season in coach Roy Williams’ tenure at Chapel Hill, and to top it all off their bitter rivals Duke University won it all. The consolation prize for Williams and the Tar Heels is that they snagged three of the top high school recruits in the country, including Harrison Barnes, the 6’8 forward atop everyone’s list. Add freshman guards Reggie Bullock and Kendall Marshall, and the Tar Heels look to be an exciting team for the foreseeable future, and one that can definitely contend for an ACC title in 2010.
