2011-2012 Oregon Ducks College Basketball Preview:
Will fearing the Quack transfer from the football field to the hardwook? It might this year, as a bevvy of transfers and a freshman phenom look to bring a lot of attention to Eugene.
Freshman point guard Jabari Brown was a top-30 ESPNU player coming out last year and had interest from UConn and Georgia Tech. However, Brown decided to stay closer to his hometown of Oakland and play for the Ducks. What the odds-on-favorite for Pac-12 Freshman of the Year brings is the ability to score in bunches from anywhere on the floor. Brown is joined by a pair of transfers—junior forward/center hybrid Tony Woods and grad student power forward Olu Ashaolu—who add depth and range on the floor, especially the three point shooting Ashaolu.
Of the remaining players from 2010-11, guards sophomore Jonathan Lloyd and Brett Kingma will provide depth off the bench and range— Kingma was one of the team’s top three-point scorers last year. That title went to junior small forward EJ Singler, who hopes to run more up and down the court with Brown in. If they do get along, Oregon looks to be one of the top contenders in the Pac-12 in 2011-12.

The Oregon Ducks play their home games at McArthur Court in Eugene, Oregon. The oldest college basketball arena in the nation, “the Pit” is also probably the loudest in the Pac-12. The “Pit Crew” is a courtside student section that leads the fans and shakes the floor of the arena, making life tough for opposing teams.
