2011-2012 Washington Huskies College Basketball Preview:
There was a spark at the season in Seattle, as the Huskies spirited away the Pac-10 title with an upset win over Arizona, and an amazing run in the NCAA Tournament that ended in the round of 32 with a loss against UNC. They’re looking to continue that momentum into the 2011-12 season with a healthy crop of recruits and a strong returning core.
Although last year’s hero, point guard Isaiah Thomas, has gone to the NBA, the one spot isn’t being manned by a newbie. Junior Abdul Gaddy is returning to the lineup after missing last year due to an ACL tear. The point guard was showing promise in the 13 games last year he played before the injury, ending the season fourth in average scoring and second in average assists.
As a member of last year’s Pac-10 All-Freshman team, sophomore power forward CJ Wilcox showed his range in shooting, knocking down more than 40% of his three-pointers. At the two- and three-positions, shooting guard freshman Tony Wroten and sophomore small forward Terrance Ross looking to solidify the wings and show Huskie fans a strong inside-outside game that will be there for the near future.
