Purdue Boilermakers Basketball Season Preview History

2011-2012 Purdue Boilermakers College Basketball Preview
Once again, Purdue will likely be at the top of the Big Ten heap this year. The squad amassed a 14-4 record in the division last season and fans can only expect another round of dominance from coach Pinter's boys.

Coming into November, the team already has an upperclassman who can score at will from anywhere on the hardwood—Indiana native Robbie Hummel, who was named to the John R. Wooden Preseason Top 50 players list. This 6' 8" senior has serious skills and can play the post or shoot from outside. He is also considered one of the most well-rounded athletes in college basketball and will be adding these skills to an already potent Boilermaker roster.

Hummel is also one of the best rebounders in club history and will get some help in the form of power forwards Sandi Marcius, a Croatian native, and Travis Carroll, another hometown hero. Look for Purdue to establish a quick game this November. The squad is packing a number of fine athletes who are fast off the dribble and explosive finishers when inside.

Purdue University 2010 Men’s Basketball Preview:
Named one of the top NCAA College Basketball places to visit by USA Today, Purdue’s Mackey Arena is a throwback venue in the same way Mad Men is a throwback show—classic and exciting for every minute. The last of the original Big 10 basketball arenas, Mackey is filled with old-school touches like recessed team benches that sink into the floor and an aluminum dome that make 14,000 screaming fans feel like 100,000. With TicketCity, you don’t have to get drowned out when you feel like watching coach Matt Painter and his grown up “Baby Boilermakers” ready to make noise in the regular season and the NCAA Tournament.

When fellow Indianans Butler University made it to the championship game last year, now-Seniors Robbie Hummel, E'Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson could only shake their heads. Hummel, an All-American pre-season pick last year along with Moore, hurt himself during their Big Ten championship run. Without his outside shooting, they were no problem in the tournament against eventual champs Duke. But with a healthy Hummel back, and Moore and Johnson opting out of going into the NBA draft, the Boilermakers are looking to make a final push with their four-year stars that will bring a title to West Lafayette.
