When it comes to college sports, perhaps no conference garners more competitive respect than that of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Though SEC basketball is best represented by the NCAA powerhouse Kentucky Wildcats, the tournament bracket is packed with competition from top to bottom. After overloading the competitive atmosphere with the additions of Texas A&M and Missouri, the SEC Tournament’s 14-team bracket is without doubt one of the countries toughest.
The competitive addition to the SEC bracket sparked the berth of an additional round of play leaving the first round to be decided by the 4 low seeds. As an added bonus, the larger 13 game bracket doubled the number of teams in the running for the bye round advantage to include 8 with the top 4 seeds gaining the double round bye. The SEC bracket is compiled of 5 rounds that are separated into 6 double-header sessions (1-6) and the SEC Championship Game (session 7).
2016 SEC Tournament Bracket Preview
After Florida’s exhilarating 18-0 SEC Championship performance that led them to their 5th Final Four appearance in 2014, high expectations are surrounding the 2015 SEC Basketball Tournament. Nashville, Tennessee will inherit the task of surpassing those expectations on Wednesday, March 11 as the road through the 2015 SEC bracket tips off at Bridgestone Arena. With the Wildcats leading both the conference and the nation, they are the clear cut favorites and the team to beat in 2015. Hot on the heels of #1 Kentucky will be the Volunteers, a team that will likely be backed with a home crowd atmosphere given the tournament’s location.
