Tennessee Vols 2011-12 Men’s College Basketball Preview
There are only a few head coaches that can come in to revive a program as disastrous as the one left behind by Bruce Pearl at Tennessee. Former Missouri State coach Cuonzo Martin is one of them. The tough-minded coach, who has beaten cancer and is part of the prodigious Gene Keady coaching tree, is up to the challenge of bringing the Vols back into the national spotlight.

Luckily for Martin, the team isn’t barren as most caught violating NCAA rules. He has a team rife with four-star recruits willing to learn a new system and, more importantly, didn’t transfer out when Pearl left. First on that list is senior shooting guard Cameron Tatum, who is looking to bounce back after a disastrous year. The Forward spots will need to be filled since Martin plays with three, eschewing the need for a center.

Juniors Kenny Hall and Jeronne Maymon will also be reclamation projects for the team, two players who need to play above the 2 ppg and rbg pace they set themselves on last year. If these three pieces come together for coach Martin, then Tennessee could find its way back to the promise land of the NCAA tournament sooner rather than later.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BASKETBALL EXPERIENCE:
Location:
 Knoxville, Tennessee
Stadium: Thompson-Boling Arena
Conference: SEC Conference
Rivals: Florida Gators
Nicknames: Tennessee Vols Basketball

Historically, Tennessee Volunteers holds four SEC Conference Titles.  Some of the great players to wear the orange and white include Bernard King, Dale Ellis, and Allan Houston.  Playing in the ultra-competitive SEC has provided the Tennessee Volunteers with great rivalries.  The most well known is the “Border War” against the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The two schools are only three hours apart, on I-75.  Playing more than 200 games in their history, the Kentucky game is always sold out.

The Tennessee Volunteers play their home games at the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee.  “The Summit” as it’s also known is a large 24,535-seat multi-purpose arena, and is the largest arena ever built solely for basketball in the nation.  Watching the Kentucky-Tennessee game at the Summit is an incredible college basketball experience.  Buy Tennessee Volunteers basketball tickets, and watch the Tennessee Volunteers continue their extraordinary return to prominence!
