Texas Longhorns Ticket Information

Playing collegiate basketball since the early 1900s, Texas is still looking for its first NCAA championship. Since joining the Big-12 for the 1996-97 season, the Longhorns have emerged as a threat in the college basketball world. In program history Texas has reached three Final Fours, the most recent of which came in 2003 on the back of point guard T.J. Ford. Since then, the Longhorns and head coach Rick Barnes have brought in consistent NBA-level talent—guys like LaMarcus Aldridge, Avery Bradley and, of course, Kevin Durant. Barnes has led his team to the top spot in the AP poll and it is just a matter of time before the Barnes and the Longhorns have their first NCAA tournament championship, beating the powerhouses that reside in the Big-12. 2014 Longhorns Season Preview

The Longhorns are coming off one of their worst seasons in recent years, and head coach Rick Barnes is hoping to get the ship righted before it's too late. Javan Felix and Jonathan Holmes will be counted on for most of the scoring in the backcourt, while Connor Lammert and Cameron Ridley will be cleaning up what comes to them in the paint. The fans in Austin are used to competing with Kansas for the Big 12 title, but the hope for this season is a NCAA tournament berth.

Texas will travel to North Carolina on Dec. 16 for a game againts the Tar Heels before returning home to host pre-season #1 Michigan State. The three biggest conference home games at the Erwin Center will be against Oklahoma (Jan. 4), Kansas (Feb. 1) and Oklahoma State (Feb. 11).

Rivals

Texas vs. Oklahoma

The football rivalry between these two schools dates back a hundred years, but they have a relatively young basketball rivalry. With the inception of the Big 12 in 1996 these two teams have produced some of the best games in the conference. Oklahoma owns an advantage in overall wins, but the Longhorns have dominated the last decade. This is one of the most exciting matchups in the Big 12 year in and year out.

Texas vs. A&M

Anytime the Longhorns and Aggies meet on any stage it is an exciting event. These two teams have met on the basketball court over 200 times with the Horns owning a large margin in wins. With both teams having increased success over the last two decades, this rivalry has grown in importance and intrigue. The series was put on hold after the Aggies moved to the SEC, but fans from both squads hope that it is put back on the schedule in the near future.

Texas vs. Kansas

This series has often been the premier matchup in the Big 12. Kansas and Texas have produced some of the most exciting games anywhere in the country, with the Big 12 championship often on the line. Kansas has a winning record in this series but Texas is one of the few schools to have any success against the Jayhawks over the last 20 years. Both squads are known for having NBA caliber talent and this game is a showcase for some of the best players in the country.

Texas Longhorns in the Final Four, NCAA Tournament, and Big 12 Tournament

After a run of two Final Fours in the 1940s, there was a lull of postseason success for the Longhorns, but over the last 15 years we’ve seen some Texas teams run deep into the NCAA tournament. Texas appeared in the Final Four in 2003, and has reached the Sweet 16 five times in the last decade – along with a few conference championships.

Texas Longhorns Event Guide

What time do the gates open prior to a Longhorns game?

Doors usually open to the general public 1-hour before tip off at Frank Erwin Center.

Where are good places to eat before a Longhorns game?

The area around Frank Erwin Center is full of great places to eat. Just farther south on Red River Street is Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill. Moonshine has some of the best southern food you will find, and has a fun atmosphere also. If you are a Barbeque fan you have to try Franklin’s. Franklin’s is one of the top barbeque places in the country and usually sells out by lunchtime so plan to get there early. Just on the other side of I-35 is Gourmands Neighborhood Pub. Gourmands has a simple but mouthwatering menu and is a fun place to spend a few hours before game time. If you are looking for Mexican food try Trudy’s. Trudy’s is usually packed with Longhorn faithful, and has great food and drink options. Other good places in the area are Seranos, The Halal Bros, Aster’s Ethiopian Restaurant, and Arlo’s.

Where is the best place to park at the Frank Erwin Center?

Parking at Frank Erwin Center is extremely limited and we highly recommend getting to the game early. Usually the best place to look for parking is north of the arena at the corner of Red River Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Another good place to find a spot is at the Trinity Garage located just west on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Trinity Street. If you go farther south on Red River there are plenty of metered parking spots, but be wary that there is usually a 3-hour limit on street parking.

Does my child need a ticket to attend the game?

Children over the age of 2 years old are required to have a ticket to enter Frank Erwin Center. If your child is under 2 years old they will be allowed to sit on a guardians lap for the duration of the game. It is best practice to bring proof of your child’s age with you to the gate to avoid any last minute hassles.

Texas vs. Kansas State Game I managed to score 6th row seats to the Texas game last weekend and had a blast! The crowd was pumped up for the game against Kansas State so the atmosphere was incredible. The student section chanted traditional cheers while the Texas pom squad performed outstanding routines. I can’t wait for my experience at the next game! There’s nothing better than a little rivalry and some old school traditions. February 22, 2012
