2011-2012 Idaho Vandals College Basketball Preview:
The Idaho Vandals finished the 2010-11 regular season 18-14, but enjoyed home cooking as they were 10-5 at Memorial Gym. However, the Vandals still see room for improvement in the 2011-12 season, and that's exactly what head coach Don Verlin will try to do this year.
On offense, the Vandals will have a number of power forwards who are expected to help the team drive to the basket more often, including Dazmond Starke, Stephen Madison and Wendell Faines. Together, these budding stars are expected to elevate the offense to a new level. With these powerhouses on the court it won't be difficult for the Vandals to score points this coming season.
Defensively, Idaho is anticipating a positive change as well. Connor Hill, Kyle Barone and Joe Kammerer all have the responsibility of preventing opposing teams from making easy shots, and with their talents, this shouldn't be a difficult task to accomplish.
Last season, the Vandals were 9-7 against their rivals in the Western Athletic Conference. However, Idaho intends to improve upon this record in an effort to become a legitimate competitor in NCAA men's basketball.
