2011-2012 New Mexico Aggies College Basketball Preview:
Last season, the New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball team finished the year just below .500 at 16-17, but the team was 12-5 at home. The Aggies are expected to try and maintain their dominance on the court during away games this season to improve upon their record in 2011-12.
New Mexico will bring an abundance of talent to the offensive side of the court this year with a number of high-powered players. Remi Barry, Sim Bhullar and Emery Coleman are predicted to help the Aggies win in close match-ups thanks to their consistent accuracy from the free throw line.
Defensively, the Aggies will have to improve if they want to be competitors in 2011-12. However, they have a handful of players who are expected to help the team surpass expectations, including D.J. Lewis, Eric Weary and B.J. West. With head coach Marvin Menzies leading the way, the Aggies are likely to bring an aggressive game to the court. This may be just what they need to become a real competitor in the Western Athletic Conference.
