2009 Georgia Tech Football Preview:
Head Coach: Paul Johnson
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be a team to watch in 2009. That is because Georgia Tech had a hugely successful in 2008, under first year Head Coach Paul Johnson. And many experts are predicting a repeat performance of that success heading into the 2009 season. The Yellow Jackets return a strong offense that will again rely on the triple-option spread to confuse and overpower opponents. If GT can keep things rolling they should be in the conversation for BCS bowls again in 2009.

The Georgia Institute of Technology first fielded a football team in 1892 as the Blacksmiths. Their first game against the University of Georgia resulted in Tech's first win, and the ire of the Bulldog's fans helped spark a rivalry known now only as “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate”. The Yellow Jackets would have great success in the first part of the 20th century through to the '60s under legendary coaches John Heisman, William Alexander, and Bobby Dodd. With 3 National Championships and 13 Conference titles under these coaches, Georgia Tech then began to struggle in the '70s and '80s. Bobby Ross' arrival in 1987 would bring the Yellow Jackets back to form for another National Championship in 1990 and 2 ACC Titles.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets play their home games at the 55,000 seat capacity Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Attend a Georgia Tech home game and you'll hear the crowd sing “Up with the White and Gold” as they cheer on their beloved “Ramblin' Wreck”.
