2011 Maryland Football Preview:
Ralph Fridgen was the head coach in Maryland for nearly 10 years, but at the end of the last season the school decided to take things in another direction and hired UConn head coach Randy Edsall, who inherits a 9-4 team.
The offense will be led by quarterback Danny O'Brien, who was one of the best freshman quarterbacks in the country last season. Though he will have to avoid a sophomore slump, he is well-suited to lead the Terrapins back to a bowl game. He will have two potential weapons beside him in Davin Meggett and rushing touchdown leader DJ Adams, both of whom are looking to duplicate successful campaigns from 2010.
Though O'Brien was a big story last year, the Maryland defense was even more so. They were one of the best squads in the ACC, and if Edsall is true to form he will have them stopping teams in much the same way this year. Kenny Tate will be the anchor as a strong safety-linebacker hybrid and should provide a strong veteran leadership on this Terrapin defense.
2010 Maryland Football Preview:
The inconsistency in the play of the Maryland Terrapins Football team over the past few years has left fans guessing about what kind of team will greet them in 2010. In 2008, the team finished a solid but run-of-the-mill 8-5, despite beating four of their five nationally ranked opponents. Last year, inexperience at the offensive line led to Maryland's first 10-loss season in the history of the program, leading to a last place finish.
Entering 2010, the Terrapins should be able to learn from their rough season and propel themselves from the basement of the ACC's Atlantic Division.
For starters, their star wide receiver Torrey Smith is coming off season in which he scored 5 touchdowns and compiled 827 receiving yards - but the versatile player can do it all. In his junior year, Smith will be relied on as a team leader, as well as kick returner to supplement his receiver role.
The Terps' season begins on September 6 against Navy, a home game at Byrd Stadium. As part of Maryland's uphill battle this season, they'll take on their two biggest rivals on the road: at West Virginia on September 18 and at ACC rival Virginia on November 13.

Maryland Terrapins Head Coach Ralph Friedgen has been in College Park the better part of a decade. During that time he has brought the Terps football program to previously unforeseen before heights. Maryland fans should be able to count on another strong season in 2009, where Maryland has proved to be one of the top teams in the ACC. If Friedgen can get his Terps playing up to their ability, then watch out for Maryland this season.

The Maryland Terrapins football program is one of most exciting to watch in college football these days, especially in the postseason - the Terps have won their last 3 bowl games by a combined margin on 95-17! Although they only finished with a .500 season in 2007, the Terrapins are a team to watch in 2008. They defeated two top 10 teams in 2007, and will look to climb the ACC Standings next year. A ticket to Byrd Stadium will be a wild ride this year.
