2010 Baylor Football Preview:
Many Baylor fans have hailed redshirt sophomore quarterback Robert Griffin as the man who will bring the Bears to their first bowl games in 16 years. All that hope went out the window in 2009 when Griffin tore his ACL in the third game of the year and the team stumbled to a 4-8 record and a last place finish in the Big 12 South.
Griffin is back from injury and will be looking live up to the expectations of his freshman year. He can both run and throw exceptionally well and the Bears have an offensive line who should provide him with plenty of protection. There are question marks at running back as senior Jay Finley was limited last year and there is inexperience at the wide receiver positions.
Baylor will have to improve dramatically on defense that ranked last in the conference in rushing yards per game last year and their 405.6 yards per game landed them in 10th. However, that will be tough as all-american linebacker Joe Pawelek and standout safety Jordan Lake both graduated.
Although Griffin's return is good news for the offense, the uncertainty on defense makes it difficult to believe the Bears will legitimately contend for the Big 12 South. However, an easy non-conference schedule with Sam Houston State and Rice could propel them into their first bowl game since 1994.

Bowl Games:
The Baylor Bears first fielded a football team in 1899. Baylor's greatest football success came under the leadership of head coach Grant Teaff, who took over a struggling Baylor team in 1972, and within two years managed to win the program's first Southwest Conference title since 1924. That season and the win that year over the rival Texas Longhorn team are still referred to as “the Miracle on the Brazos” after the river near Baylor campus. Teaff managed to put the Baylor Bears on the college football map, and the current squad looks to continue his legacy and hopefully even improve on it.
The Baylor Bears play their home games at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, Texas. As you enter the stadium, you'll walk through Grant Teaff plaza and see and feel the football tradition embodied by the former coach. A Baylor football game is great college football experience as you watch the Baylor Bears compete with some of the toughest in-conference programs in the country including Texas, Texas A&M, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
