Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Season Preview History

2009 Nebraska Football Early Preview:
Head Coach:
Bo Pelini
2009 is year two for Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach Bo Pelini. The Cornhusker faithful have high hopes that Coach Pelini will be able to build upon a successful first season. Nebraska finished 10-4 in 2008, Pelini's maiden voyage, including a huge Gator Bowl victory over Clemson. Much of the 2009 season will depend on how well Pelini gets Nebraska's famous "Black Shirts" defense playing. If the Husker defense lives up to expectations and projected QB Zac Lee gets the O clicking, then watch out for the 2009 Nebraska Cornhuskers.

2008 Nebraska Football Preview:
Head Coach:
 Bo Pelini
The Nebraska Cornhusker football team is the most successful program in college football in the last 50 years. While the team has fallen on some hard times in the last few seasons, it appears to be back on track with legendary coach Tom Osborne as Athletic Director and Bo Pelini at coach. The Cornhusker fan base and the winning tradition in Lincoln will make it unlikely that Nebraska’s woes will last. Memorial Stadium will be rocking with Husker fans expecting a big turnaround, a shot at the Big 12 Championship, and a bowl bid in 2008.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers welcome back Bo Pelini as head coach for the team, after serving one year at Defensive Coordinator for the team in 2003. From 2005-2007, Pelini served as Defensive Coordinator for the LSU Tigers, helping form their defensive unit to a national championship device. The offensive unit for the Cornhuskers will be bolstered by the return of Marlon Lucky, who rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2007. Lucky is currently on the watch list as a favorite to win the Maxwell Award. The biggest problem facing the Cornhuskers offense is finding replacements for wide receivers Maurice Purify and Terrence Nunn. Otherwise, the Huskers are going to have a field day moving the ball around on the ground.

The defense is going to need some work this season, hence Bo Pelini returning. He made magic happen for LSU, keeping the defense ranked third or better in the nation for three years. As long as the Husker defense improves, and the offense plays ball as well as they did last year, you can expect a couple of bowl games from this team. Get out and root for this Nebraska football team, and help them to a North division Championship!
