2012 OKLAHOMA SOONERS PREVIEW:
While a 10-3 record is something most teams would love to have, that's not the sentiment in Norman. The Sooners want more, and they're hoping Landry Jones can give it to them in his senior season.
With 15 returning starters, the Sooners will be ranked high to begin the season and are hoping to stay that way behind an explosive offense and a veteran defensive backfield. Tom Wort, Tony Jefferson and Corey Nelson will spearhead the defense to hold the high-flying Big 12 offenses at bay while Jones works the ball down the field on offense.
Dominique Whaley will feature in the backfield for OU, scoring nine touchdowns in 2011. Kenny Stills is Jones's go-to guy down the field with the departure of Ryan Broyles, and he'll be a lot for opposing DBs to handle. Staying away from injuries will be key in keeping the Sooners BCS championship hopes alive.
Oklahoma have a tough schedule in 2012 to say the least. They'll tagle with Big 12 foes Texas, OK State and West Virginia, as well as welcoming in Notre Dame to Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium.
