2009 Texas Tech Football Preview:
Head Coach: Mike Leach
The 2009 Texas Tech Red Raiders are entering the season trying to replace the talents of Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree. For the last couple of seasons Harrell and Crabtree have been the top pass-catch combo in college football. So what does Texas Tech do after losing these studs? When pirate loving Mike Leach is your Head Coach, you just baton down the hatches and plug in two new studs on offense. That is because Leach has become the architect of the most successful offense in college football today, so to him it doesn't matter if it's Harrell or new QB Taylor Potts. The offense remains unchanged, which means you can expect the Red Raiders to be a contender in 2009.
2008 Texas Tech Football Preview:
Head Coach: Mike Leach
The Texas Tech Red Raider football team has one of the most explosive and exciting offenses to watch in all of college football. Competing in the ultra-competitive Big 12 Conference, the Red Raiders have proven to be a tough competitor over the years. Under the leadership of head coach Mike Leach, Texas Tech will look to win its first Big 12 title and compete for a BCS Bowl bid. Historic Jones Stadium will be teeming with fans this season as Texas Tech puts up incredible scores and offensive numbers on their way to a conference title.
In the 2008 preseason, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are already racking up strong reviews. As of July 2008, the team is ranking as low as #12 and as high as #8 in the nation, according to several preseason polls. This means that if the Raiders keep a strong defense - and learn to run the ball better than they did in 2007 - they could be prime contenders against Texas and Oklahoma for all the marbles in the Big 12 south. Quarterback Graham Harrell is a key mover for the team, and should have no trouble keeping their passing game alive. Also, the entire offensive line is returning in 2008, making the Red Raider offense a force to deal with.
Head Coach Mike Leach is looking for another bowl game berth this season, after winning in last year's Gator Bowl. This year is either going to be a huge season for the Raiders, or a huge disappointment. As long as Texas Tech's defense keeps up with their heralded offense, the Red Raiders are going to make the plays they need to dominate the Big 12. Make sure to come watch this dynamic team make moves at Jones AT&T Stadium in 2008!
